The full script
- Lie down if you can, and let the floor or bed take all your weight.
- Take a few slow breaths, letting each out-breath be long.
- Bring your attention to your toes. Simply notice them.
- Imagine a soft light gathering there, warm and gentle.
- The light spreads through the soles of your feet.
- Into your heels and ankles. Let them soften.
- It moves slowly up your calves. They grow heavy.
- Your knees relax. The backs of your knees soften.
- The light fills your thighs. They sink down.
- Your hips loosen and settle.
- Warmth spreads through your lower back.
- Let your belly be soft. Let it rise and fall naturally.
- The light glows in your chest, around your heart.
- Your upper back melts into the surface beneath you.
- Your shoulders let go. They do not have to carry anything now.
- The light flows down your arms.
- Through your elbows, your forearms, your wrists.
- Into your palms and each finger. They tingle softly.
- Your neck lengthens and relaxes.
- Your jaw loosens. Your tongue rests.
- Your cheeks soften. Your eyes are heavy and still.
- Your forehead smooths out.
- The light rests at the very top of your head.
- Now your whole body is glowing, warm and calm.
- Rest here. If sleep comes, let it.
- If you are staying awake, take your time to come back slowly.
